In the 21st century, PTA advocacy means providing our children with nutritious meal options, keeping them safe from gun violence, protecting students’ personal and academic information and ensuring that kids are college and career-ready upon graduation from high school.
Where do we stand NYS PTA?
“Where We Stand” is the official position document of the New York State PTA. It is comprised of resolution statements adopted by convention delegates. These statements are intended to guide members as to what action to take on specific issues that affect the education, health and welfare of children and youth.
What does an advocacy group do?
An advocacy group supports a political or social cause. They may recommend certain changes in government, public policy, society, and/or law.
What is a PTA member?
PTA is a membership association and people join a PTA unit each year by paying membership dues. People cannot join PTA at the council or PTA district level. Every PTA member in California belongs to at least one PTA unit. If you have children in different schools, you may join at each school.

Is PTA optional?
As a reminder, there are no changes to PTA’s membership process and the electronic system will be completely voluntary and an optional addition to our current system. We will keep you posted as we progress in this important work to build membership and strengthen PTA.
What are PTA dues?
The National PTA Board of Directors will present a motion to increase dues by $1.50, which will adjust the overall National PTA dues to $3.75 for each individual member, effective July 1, 2019.
