Our goal is to make your ANCC certification renewal more robust, impactful, and meaningful to your practice. All certification renewal candidates are required to complete a MANDATORY 75 continuing education hours (CH), plus one or more of the eight ANCC renewal categories, all in your certification specialty.

How many CME is ANCC?

All candidates for APRN renewal must complete 75 continuing education (CE) hours and one or more of the eight ANCC renewal categories within one’s specialty. As of January 1, 2014, all APRNs must also complete 25 CE hours of pharmacotherapeutics as part of the 75 CE hours.

Does ANCC accept UpToDate CME?

Use of UpToDate is acceptable to the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) for renewal requirements. In addition, the ANCC has indicated that use of UpToDate meets the pharmacology requirement for nurse practitioners.

Is ANCC the same as CEU?

The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) does not use the CEU to measure continuing nursing education credit. Nursing, as a profession, uses contact hours to count continuing education credit. One CEU is equal to 10 contact hours (or 600 minutes) of an educational activity.

How many CE hours is BLS?

BLS Certification Postgraduate Institute for Medicine designates this activity for 4.0 continuing education credits.

Can you take both AANP and ANCC?

There are currently two recognized certifying boards for NPs: The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). Graduating nurse practitioners can choose to sit for either exam as organizations have come to recognize both exams as valid certifications.

Does Aanp accept ANCC credits?

BoardVitals, in partnership with University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Nursing Continuing Nursing Education, provides CE credits for the ANCC. These credits are widely accepted by the AANP, as the ANCC is considered to be the “gold standard” of nursing credentials.

Do Webinars count as live CE?

Live webinars do not count for live classroom hours for those states/license types that require hours be completed in a classroom. Does AHA BLS count as CEU?

Basic CPR for healthcare professionals does not count for continuing education credit even if the provider issues certificates.

Is ANCC harder than AANP?

The AANP is rumored to be the easier of the two exams, specifically for those seeking their FNP certification since it has a 5% higher pass rate than that of the ANCC FNP exam. Using the pass rate as a basis for difficulty then you can reasonably say that the AANP exam is easier than the ANCC.
